An improvised duet between two human musicians and AI versions of themselves. Recordings of a previously recorded improvised duet between trombonist Jeff Albert and guitarist Anthony Cammarota become corpora in Somax2, an AI-powered interactive music system. The software remixes the original dialogic interaction; live trombone and guitar alternate with AI-generated counterparts, so either instrument could be controlled by a human or the system at any point.

Jeff Albert is an Associate Professor and Co-P.I. of the Creative Music Technology Lab at Georgia Tech, whose practice includes improvisation, jazz performance, and live computer music. He contributed as performer, producer, or engineer on 60+ recordings including the 2017 Grammy winner for Best Traditional Blues Album. Anthony Cammarota is a guitarist, composer, and educator currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Georgia Tech, whose work bridges jazz, electroacoustic, and popular music with interactive music systems and algorithmic composition.
