An algorithmic co-creative environment entangling sound, performance, visuals, and ecosystem processes in a responsive network. A Max-based system analyzes incoming audio via spectral centroid and density, navigating interconnected field recording nodes from multiple geographic locations, triggering or fading recordings and visuals in response. Performers use indeterminate scores guided by the same listening principles as the system. Duration: 7 minutes.
Garrison Gerard is a composer of electroacoustic and concert music exploring intersections between ecology and music. His music has been performed by the [Mod]ular Ensemble, Fort Worth Symphony, and Nu Atmospheres Ensemble. He served as Fulbright Fellow at the University of Iceland in 2023 and is currently Assistant Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
